Internet Users Internet became of the public domain in the 90s when only 0,5% (2,8 million) of the population has access to it. Over the years this number went quickly up and today we have 4,5 billion people that can assess to the internet (59% of the world population).  When we look at the regions where the majority of internet users are we see that Asia is at the first place with 53% of the users then we have Europe with 16% and North America with 6%. These numbers are luckily to change as many third-world countries are evolving and should soon be able to access the internet.
